Name and occupation:
Elliot Tiber – gay writer, humorist, anti-hate crimes crusader, mensch.
How do you show gay pride?
I tour both nationally and internationally as a public speaker and humorist. I use these opportunities to explain and promote GLBT pride and equality.
Why do you support LGBTQ issues?
I am a gay man, so those LGBTQ issues affect my everyday life.
What do you think about Obama’s support of gay marriage?
I voted for Obama and while he recently has evolved his opinions of gay marriage into a place of support state-by-state, he will hopefully also evolve things so that gay marriage becomes bound and protected by Federal law.

I think gay marriage suohld be voted on by people of the states. It is a moral issue, not a religious one. There are Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and atheists who oppose gay marriage. It is not like telling someone to pray to Allah 5 x a day or take communion. It is not a central tenet of any one faith, so it does not constitute enforcing one religion on the rest of society, as England did 200 plus years ago. No state ever voted for gay marriage
It’s not even a moral issue. If gay people want to be married they should be able to. Period. Case closed.
